Spokane firm to equip Belize
medical clinic in honor of late Catholic Charities
director (Reproduced
from the Feb. 2, 2006 edition of the
Inland Register)
Dave Parks (center),
President of Parks Medical Corporation, will deliver a
plaque, commemorating Donna Hanson’s years of service,
to Corazon, Belize. Pictured with Dave are Loreen
McFaul, Development Director, Catholic Charities Spokane
and Rob McCann, Executive Director, Catholic Charities,
Spokane. (IR photo from Catholic Charities)
When a medical clinic opens
in Corazal, Belize, next month, Parks Medical
Corporation will be donating a video system, endoscopes
– “everything they need,” according to owner Dave Parks
– inspired and influenced by the late Donna Hanson,
Bishop’s Secretary for Social Ministries and director of
Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Spokane.
Parks said that Hanson was
“a delightful, thoughtful person, very interested in
other people, and also a very effective organizer. She’s
someone who has done so much for so many.”
The main focus of Parks
Medical Corporation is gastroenterology — the
visualization of the internal organs of the body. They
sell flexible scopes for viewing and treating various
areas that would be hard to see or reach without them.
“Our focus is on positive patient outcomes,” Parks said.
The company serves over 42 hospitals and clinics in the
Pacific Northwest.
There can be little doubt
that Hanson would appreciate what is being done in her
name. The Belize clinic will feature a plaque with
Hanson’s picture and story on it. But the clinic will
bear her name, since she was, in Parks’s opinion, “the
Mother Teresa of Eastern Washington.
“The people down there are
very excited about this,” he said. “We’re glad that
Donna’s presence will be with us in Belize.”

40% of all attendees are members of one (or more) of the four
sponsoring societies; the American Association for the Study of
Liver Diseases (AASLD), the American Gastroenterological
Association (AGA), the American Society for Gastrointestinal
Surgery (ASGE), and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary
Tract (SSAT). DDW takes place every May in cities
throughout the US. This year the meeting is being held in New
Orleans from May 15th to the 20th. Attendance averages
14,000 people, just over half of whom travel from outside the
US. Physicians from the UK, Germany, Japan and France make up
nearly 40% of all international attendees. The meeting showcases
approximately 5,000 abstracts and hundreds of lectures on the
latest advances in GI research, medicine and technology.

moving its headquarters to a beautiful new space
located in the heart of downtown Spokane, in the historic
Eldridge Building.
Built in 1925
as an automobile sales and service center, the Eldridge Building is now
the office and retail hub of Carnegie Square, located at the
intersection of First Avenue and Cedar Street.
We are very
excited about our new location and anticipate moving in by April
1st. Watch for more updates.
03.01.01 - National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
March 2004 begins the fifth annual nationwide effort to educate
the public that colorectal cancer is
preventable, treatable and
beatable! This year's campaign will focus on
reaching out to special populations and increasing outreach to
primary care providers. A bracelet that reminds an individual to
get screened for colorectal cancer will serve as the main
outreach activity for the month. The bracelet initiative will
be called the
Buddy Bracelet --
Wear it, Share it, Because You Care!
03.01.04 -
New Symbol of
Hope for Colon Cancer Cure!
Today,
the blue star symbol will be introduced across the country,
symbolizing our united effort in the battle to prevent
colorectal cancer deaths. The symbol will be featured
everywhere, from window displays in New York’s Rockefeller
Center, to displays on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, and at events
in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Montreal, Minneapolis, Los Angeles,
and hundreds of other locations throughout North America. I am
so pleased there is finally a symbol for colorectal cancer, the
nation's second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men
and women. This disease affects hundreds of thousands of people
each year, and this symbol is a sign of our common commitment to
prevention, treatment and finding a cure. The blue star
symbolizes that by working together, we will prevent many from
ever developing colorectal cancer and create highly effective
treatments. Thank you for your continued support of the NCCRT!
02.13.04 - New PMC Website Goes

Parks Medical Corporation is up and running. It is still
under construction with content being added every day, so check
back often for news about the products we carry and specials we
may be running.
01.10.04 - New Employee
Joins the PMC Team.
I am pleased to announce the hiring of Stacey Blount to the
position of Office Manager to our company. Stacey comes to our
company with an exceptional background and knowledge in marketing
and business organization. In her previous position as
Communications Coordinator at the Spokane County Medical Society (SCMS),
Stacey produced numerous marketing materials and guided the staff
with her extensive knowledge in computer programs. She coordinated
physician education seminars, meetings, and conventions and her
work was recognized and appreciated by the physicians she came in
contact with.
Prior to working for SCMS, Stacey was employed by AT&T Broadband
and learned a great amount about computer networking and technical
aspects of internet and broadband technology. In addition, Stacey
excelled as the top student in an intensive one year Computer
school where she achieved several mastery certificates in
Microsoft Office programs.
Perhaps even more impressive than Stacey's technical skills, is
her "can do" positive, enthusiasm to achieve the very best for her
co-workers and customers. Like all of us, Stacey will go the extra
mile for her customers to get the job done quickly, effectively
and professionally.
On behalf of PMC, Welcome Stacey to our team. We are excited to
have her! |
